The skin turned black, sloughed off and eventually re-grew. He refused to go to the doctor. They’ll just “get infected with all the hospital germs,” he told me.
Another time he fell off a ladder from about 30 feet up while working on our barn. I only knew because an employee had watched it happen from another field. She called me. I went to the house to check on him.
He was inside eating lunch. His favorite. A cheese and onion sandwich. I asked him if anything had happened.

This Farmer Georgie story is made available via Medium, an online blogging platform. My newsletter fans receive a special ‘friends link’ to each story I send out so you can read it, even if you don’t have a Medium account yourself.
You can "clap" (the little ‘clapping hands’ symbol) on a story up to 50 times to help get it distributed to more readers, and show your support to the writer. Writers (like me!) are paid by the reading time spent on a story by Medium members. So the more claps, the more readers, the more I can write!
Thanks for joining the Farmer Georgie community and most importantly….
Keep on farming!
